January 2028 - Puss and the Norton Canes Pirates
A brand new pantomime written especially for Spotlight by Benjamin Coleman and Zachariah Andrews.SynopsisVillainous rogue Captain Birdseye has snatched the crown, while the bold and ambitious Dame Adele sits upon the throne—both desperate to rule the land once and for all. Birdseye sets his sights on the castle, while Adele schemes to reclaim the crown. Enter the clever and charismatic Puss in Boots, who suggests a hero for the job: the plucky and determined Taylor. Unfortunately, Birdseye gets the upper hand and reaches the palace first—but though he’s driven off by the castle’s defenders, he still escapes with the crown in hand. Meanwhile, Taylor meets the awkward yet loveable Ken—a brave soul with the charm of a turnip and the smoothness of a gravel path. Despite his disastrous attempts at flirting, sparks fly. Act One ends with Birdseye in hiding and love beginning to bloom. Act Two kicks off with a twist—Adele is duped by a group of bumbling knights who claim to have retrieved the crown. Delighted, she announces a coronation. Puss and Taylor suspect Birdseye will crash the party, so they send Ken to prepare for battle. Taylor, smitten, gives Ken a bit more than just encouragement. As expected, Birdseye appears mid-coronation—only to be dramatically (and comically) outwitted. Defeated, he surrenders the crown, and peace is restored. Cue the grand finale: a royal coronation, a blossoming romance, and a chorus of cheers as Puss and friends celebrate saving the day, Norton Canes-style!
