Alex is a dedicated mother, friend, fiancé, sister, daughter, and midwife with a vibrant personality and remarkable strength. Not long after leaving the NHS to start her own independent midwifery practice to provide truly individualised care for families, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Goblet Cell Adenocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the appendix. After several misdiagnoses (both from the NHS and private practices) and lengthy wait times, she received her diagnosis just before Christmas and had urgent surgery two days before Christmas day. She is now undergoing chemotherapy at a specialist unit in Manchester while caring for her two young boys.
As a self-employed midwife, Alex has no sick pay and is unable to work. The financial strain on her family is significant, and donations are being sought to help ease the burden and allow Alex to focus on her treatment.
